CFTC is teaming up once again with another great downtown hutchinson org. We have been asked to supply bands for the downtown chili feed on oct 25. Musicians will be set up on every other corner of the downtown area.

Chili, and Soup, and Fun! Oh my! It’s time again for the Chili and Soup Festival in our beautiful and vibrant downtown! Think you can win the $350 cash prize for your grandmother’s “Five Alarm Chili” or “Crazy, Cheesy Potato Soup?” Then join us and let the public vote for their favorites! We encourage you to decorate your booths with fall or Halloween themes and/or to wear costumes appropriate for the occasion. We will award Downtown Hutchinson gift certificates for best costumes and the best decorations! In addition, your chili/soup booth will be given vouchers from these generous sponsors to help make your chili/soup:

Smith’s Market – 20% off all ingredients

Berridge IGA – 20 cents per pound off ground chuck

Jackson Meat – 20 cents per pound off hamburger

The Hot Spot – 25% off all spices, sauces, and mixes

2014 Downtown Hutchinson Soup and Chili Fest Official Rules
SATURDAY OCTOBER 25, 2014 – 11:30 AM UNTIL 2:00 PM (OR UNTIL THE FOOD IS GONE)
REGISTRATION:
Registration is FREE:
Register to participate by Friday, October 10, 2014 by registering on line at www.downtownhutchinson.com. You can also contact Eric Steinle, Chili Committee Chair, at 620-662-3331 or eric.steinle@martindell.com and providing the following information
i. Provide the NAME of your ENTRY;
ii. Provide the NAME, address, telephone number and EMAIL ADDRESS of the CONTACT PERSON for each ENTRY. We will communicate with entrants by email so please provide a valid, current address you will regularly check;
iii. Declare whether you are registering to make CHILI, SOUP, OR BOTH;
iv. Advise whether you will you need access to an ELECTRICAL OUTLET or whether you will be using gas (supplied by you).
v. Your preferred location for the festival. We will try to accommodate this request subject to availability of an adequate power supply and suitability of the location. Entrants will be notified of location assignments the week of the event.
vi. Ingredient Discount Vouchers (Jackson Meat, Smith’s Market, Berridge IGA, and the Hot Spot) will be provided via email to entrants after registration. If you do not receive your voucher, please contact Eric Steinle.
PARTICIPATION RULES:
Participants must make at least 12 Gallons of Chili or Soup (15 gallons would be better);
Supplies provided by Downtown Hutchinson: 1 one ounce ladle, plastic serving spoons, serving cups, serving gloves, and napkins. You must provide everything else you need such as a table/booth, booth decorations, cookware/warmers, power cords to reach available outlets (Note: power cords must be secured for the safety of the public);
Teams may pre-cook soup/chili or cook on site but your entry must be ready to serve at 11:30 a.m.;
To receive a tasting, the public must display a Jelly Wrist Band to show they have paid. We will attempt to have a booth in each block this year so that the public can buy a Jelly Wrist Band to participate in the tasting;
Please limit tastings to 1 one ounce cup per person. You will be notified prior to the event where you can pick up your supplies;
Gloves for food handlers will be required and provided, so make sure the person serving is wearing gloves at all times;
Make sure the public is using trash cans/recycle bins and not littering the streets.

PRIZES/JUDGING OF ENTRIES
The public will judge this event.
Prizes will be awarded as follows:
i. 1ST Place Chili – $350 Cash Prize; 1st Place Soup – $350 Cash Prize;
ii. 2nd Place Chili – $150 Cash Prize; 2nd Place Soup – $150 Cash Prize;
iii. 3rd Place Chili – $75 Cash Prize; 3rd Place Soup – $75 Cash Prize;
iv. * Best Decorated Booth (4 $25.00 Downtown Hutch Gift Certificates);
v. * Best Costumes/Enthusiastic Booth (4 $25.00 Downtown Hutch Gift Certificates).
*We encourage everyone to take advantage of the late October date and use Halloween or Fall Festival Themes and decorate your booth and/or wear costumes. Remember: This is a family-friendly atmosphere so please decorate/dress accordingly.
